Your home while in Thekkady Alencherry plantation homestay is an authentic homestay. Authentic because it is the actual home of Antony Alencherry and his wife Lizzy, where they have been living for the past fifty years, since the late 1960s. Unlike many other homestays where the hosts do not stay in the premises or detached accommodation facilities are rented out as homestays, Alencherry plantation homestay offers 5 en-suite bedrooms that are part of the main house where the hosts also live. All 5 bedrooms are tastefully furnished and are equipped with all amenities a discerning traveller needs. Four of the five bedrooms are located on the first floor and offer balconies with views of the plantations. They are all quite spacious, feature solid wood four-poster beds, plenty of windows and ensuite bathrooms with glass shower cubicles. The ground floor bedroom (Cardamom) is smaller in size and doesnt offer balcony, but extremely cozy and easily accessible from the living room. Located 115 kms away from Kottayam, 9 kms before Thekkady/ Kumily along the KK road (Kottayam-Kumily road), Alencherry plantation homestay offers a tranquil experience with easy access to all the major attractions such as Thekkady, PeriyarTiger reserve, Munnar, Gavi, Chellarkovil, Pandikuzhi, etc. using the home stay as a base, you can explore all nearby attractions and return to this peaceful abode for recharging before you set off the next day. You will be tempted to abandon some plans, just kickback and relax at the home though, enjoying Lizzs home cooked traditional meals, speaking to Antony about just about everything or just wander the grounds and the plantation.
